11 ways to completely revamp your style

Confidence is bliss

Hey everyone, and welcome back! This post is all about revamping your look so that you feel more confident and put together. Every day we should feel beautiful, stylish, and self-assured that we look awesome and, most importantly, feel awesome! Fashion is meant to be experimented with, it's meant to be expressed, and it's meant to be fun.

This post is diving right into the tips, hacks, and elements that I've used to revamp my wardrobe and style. Together, we can revamp your look and get you to the point of almighty confidence!

*Like my outfit? Be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post to get the look ;)

I know it's easier said than done but, I promise that you'll not only feel relieved, but it'll be beneficial for you to clearly organize your wardrobe. To be honest, I try to do this at least every 6 months. I like to do this because I'm a visual person, and then I can clearly see what I have that may be newer that I haven't worn as much. Another pro about doing this is that you can feel good about donating your older clothes to charity or even trying to resell them to make some extra coin.
I love doing this one! Like I stated at the beginning of this post, "Fashion is meant to be experimented with." The quick fix here is to try on pairings that you never have tried on before - and that you would never think to put together. Some of my favorite outfits were created this way! One saying that I always keep in mind for this styling is, "If I know deep down that my outfit matches, yet I'm unsure about it, then I'm being fashion-forward."

Number three is great because this will help you to think through your outfits ahead of time. The 8 - hour rule is exactly what it sounds like. Instead of rushing at 7 a.m. to think of an outfit to wear to then most likely grabbing the same things every day, this rule makes you think the night before of what you'll wear the next day. Simple right? This makes a big difference giving it a little more thought the day before. You'll find putting together new outfits refreshingly easy!
This is the almighty power of style, The Capsule Collection. You're probably like, what is that? I got you; this is like the staples, the foundation of your wardrobe. This is a collection of garments designed to be worn together,, which are harmonized in color and lines. Basically, it is the essentials needed to complete many looks and outfits. More on The Capsule Collection, on next week's post!
Accessories are my go-to when it comes to styling. Just some simple jewelry, a scarf, or even a bag can drastically elevate your look altogether. If you're not used to adding accessories start small. I would recommend starting out with a neutral-toned watch or even a bracelet and adding more pieces each week. Bags are also a great addition to revamp your look,, and this can be an easier route to incorporate accessories. The rule of thumb is to always have at least a black bag and a brown bag. Those two colors alone go with so much!
If you couldn't tell in the main photo of this post... I'm layering. The art of layering is a great tool to use when revamping your style because it creates numerous outfits. Adding that extra detail of a jacket, a cardigan, a swimsuit cover-up will make you look more thoughtful and often times will also make you look more expensive. A great piece to have that is a part of the capsule collection is a denim jacket. You can do so many layering looks with a denim jacket: a hoodie under the denim jacket, a graphic tee under the denim jacket, or even a tank top under the denim jacket.
I have found so many legit treasures from thrift stores and vintage stores! Most of my favorite clothes are from the thrift store because they're so unique and different; a retail store just could never! You can literally get so many nice clothes for cheap at these places,, and no one would ever know. This a great way to introduce new looks into revamping your style. Start by searching for thrift stores near you. Just know that it can be hit or miss,, but it's also the hunt that makes finding amazing pieces so rewarding and fun.
This is a real fun one... Sometimes you have to make those tough decisions,, and unfortunately, styling is no different. Get clothes that you WILL ACTUALLY wear and AVOID exuberant spending. I put that in all caps for myself... as a reminder because the decisions are tough sometimes. By making better decisions on what you're actually buying, I can vouch that you will immediately become more mindful, confident, and stylish in your choices.
So I have actually been doing this for my Spring theme,, and I must say it has been so helpful in my style game. So start by going to your closet and turning all the hangers to face the opposite direction. Then, as you wear your clothes, you’ll return them to the closet with the hanger facing the usual way. This is a great way to actually show yourself what you've been wearing,, and it will challenge your creativity to style the remainder of the clothes. A true fashionista in the making!
I've fallen victim to this once or twice... just don't do it! Aim to incorporate more wearable pieces that you can restyle into other outfits. From experience, don't spend money on something for only one occasion because then it'll just sit in your closet and you'll regret ever buying it in the first place. Stick to classic colors or neutral tones for an event, you can never go wrong,, and STYLE IT differently in the future.
Here is another fun challenge to revamp your style altogether! For example, the blazer I'm wearing in the photo, I'm wearing it "traditionally"; however, try draping it or rolling up the sleeves and seeing how that transitions your look altogether. Costs nothing to wear it differently yet can completely revamp your entire outfit. This is a great tool to use if you're tired of wearing the same outfits all the time. Just try something new; you might fall in love with the new style!

Cold-Weather Style: How to dress for winter

As temperatures plummet this time of year, it is probably in your best interest to know how to dress warm... but also be a fashion killer. Winter can be fun, but also cold, wet, windy, and miserable... here is everything you need to know for dressing for the most wonderful time of the year.

Your First Barrier

Personally, I think a long trench coat or topcoat is ideal for winter conditions. They are often long enough to cover your legs from the wind and add an additional partial layer to the bottoms your wearing. Burberry coats are great because some of them have a removable wool lining that adds additional warmth on colder days. If its a slightly warmer day, then you can remove the lining and have a lighter trench coat. These coats are very durable, you can drape them, wear them, wear the belt over the coat, let the trench belt hang, there are so many ways to style them.

If long coats aren't your thing then a parka will keep you insulated and warm. Parkas come in many forms, windproof, waterproof, freezing conditions, removable hoods, and many other types for whatever you need in any condition. I have had by parka now for 6 years and I still use it! They are very durable and I am very warm in snow conditions. It is my coat of choice for when I go up to Saratoga Springs in the Wintertime. Canada Goose makes quality parkas and is a very common sight in cold climates.

Winter Footwear

These are "Duck" boots and they're great for snowy and slippery conditions. L.L. Bean is a great choice when it comes to buying boots because they have a lifetime warranty which most people don't know about. The bottom is made of rubber and is waterproof, so it's ideal for the wet snow and rainy conditions. Other companies like Sperry and Hunter make similar variations of the "Duck" boot too.

Every man should have a pair of black or brown leather boots. Steve Madden is a great shoe company and their products last a long time. I had a pair of there brown leather boots for years until I wore out the soles because they were so comfortable and held up for so long. Boots will help keep your feet nice and warm on those freezing winter days.

Layer up

Here are a few ways you can layer up for the cold to give you some ideas... Think of base layers like turtlenecks, sweaters, the pairing of scarfs, etc. Remember you can wear a top coat over jackets and blazers for extra warmth and make you look snazzy.

I learned the hard way in NYC on a freezing day how important beanies are... they make such a big difference! You can't go wrong with getting a neutral-colored one like black or tan color. Here are some decent ones I recommend getting.

If it is cold out, like very cold out, you have to have a scarf and gloves... You'll regret it otherwise. Boy did I regret not buying gloves your hands will literally be frozen when you're trying to use your phone without them. Here is my list of accessories that will keep you warm and bougie for winter.

Gucci makes a soft scarf that you can wear all day and it not be itchy or too heavy. I'm obsessed with mine and I love how most of them are reversible to change up your looks. Well worth the money if you're in a cold climate a lot.
Gloves are everything especially on cold windy days when you're trying to use your phone. Asos makes decent looking gloves that do the job for under $50.

Fall Plaid on Plaid

Jeans and Shirt from H&M
Black bag from Coach
I love a monochromatic fashion moment. Plaid of plaid, especially dark wash green plaid, is no exception. It's a bit punk rocker but matched with accessories and the right fitting it transforms into a high fashion look. Monochromatic looks are classic and simplistic and sometimes thats the right move. Here is my tutorial on wearing plaid on plaid for Fall and my recommendations for your closet.

As you can see from the cover photo, the two prints are slightly different yet tremendously similar. The slight difference in shade and pattern create a little texture when wearing the outfit. This is good since the overall look of this outfit is dark, it adds additional detail. I personally like to keep the dark theme going by wearing black boots matched with a black belt, but as you scroll down I demonstrate that this also looks good with brown shoes and a brown belt.

Sleek on fleek! This is a killer look matched with the black man bag and dark shades. The plaid on the plaid combo is great for a night out or just a high fashion moment.

I particularly like the dark wash green plaid over a red plaid because it's not too eccentric and in your face. In my opinion, the plaid I'm wearing is a tasteful fashion choice that from afar looks like a mainly black outfit, but up close you can see all the detail. To avoid a tacky overly loud look, I would stick with a classic muted color plaid. Try to stick to neutral colors, I wouldn't go for super bright in your face colors of plaid, it would ultimately result in being too much!

If the look is too dark and dressy for your taste then you can make it more casual by switching out the shoes and belt for a brown. The pic below shows a less intense look with the added light brown belt with light brown boots.

The brown adds a block between the prints and creates a stylish separation. Brown belts with brown shoes usually create a more casual vibe, whereas a black belt with black shoes is sleeker and can appeal to more dressy occasions.

Here are some pieces I recommend to add to your wardrobe...

Ladies Fall Trends '19

@Parkkerallen sporting her band tee with snakeskin boots

Hey Ladies! This post is all about you and what trends are in this Fall to keep you looking fresh and fashionable. These are some of the biggest trends for the 2019 Fall Season along with some of the favorites that I recommend for you to add to your wardrobe. As always, if you enjoy my content and want more LADIES posts then share this post on your social media and subscribe at the top of this page! Let's get into the fashion baby...

1. Suiting

Suit up, girl! This trend is chic, sheer sophistication and resembles a distant 80's music video. This look can either by a full fitted suit or cut up into pieces. Since it's hot here in the South in the Fall months, you can opt for a tailored blazer look. Here are some cute inspirational photos that portray this look well.

Here are some looks that won't break your bank but are fashion forward for this suiting trend

2. Pleated Skirts

Bougie girl vibes. Pleated skirts are big for this Fall season and they're very versatile to rock. They come in many Fall colors, but as you've probably guessed from the suiting section, plaid, and checkered garments are in for this Fall season.

3. Rocker Tees

I'm obsessed with this look! It is such a vintage look to it, super cute. Stores now are selling vintage-looking band tees, or you can find them in vintage/thrift stores for a legit oldie look. Super cute tucked into jeans, especially with slightly worn ripped denim.

4. Tweed

Another timeless look for the Fall! Tweed seems historic, rather British, yet cunning. Tweed that is quality is durable and can be heavy, which is ideal in colder climates. Draping an oversized tweed coat over your outfit is an iconic way to showcase this trend too.

5. Neon

Let's live out our 80's and 90's fantasies with this neon eccentric trend. The pop of bright color is everything and can add life to your outfit. Kind of rave, kind of vintage, yet exciting, and enticing.
